Hi Heather,
I really like your blog post!
So many of my beginning students get a little bit too “uptight” about the process instead of just letting loose and having fun.
I especially like your suggestion about taking a piece apart over and over again until you find your way to a design that you like. Most beginners think their jewelry pieces are set in stone. Just cut the cord and start over! The beauty of that is it only costs you a little string!
In my experience, most beginners feel more comfortable at the beginning with some rules and structure. However, as they mature I agree with you that they should make their own rules.
